First workout of 2010
Today I had the pleasure of finally getting back to working out at the Nubody Goodlife fitness centre. I had missed a month of actually going into the gym (at least with a trainer). She told me that even after the first week my body would start to lose it's energy and forget its motabolism rate. In fact I was feeling groggy to tell the truth. So I was glad I was back at it.
I hadn't gained any weight (surprisingly) but I hadn't lost any either. I tried to keep to the healthy diet I was used to, and for that we both were glad.
My heart rate was way up from December though. I checked it at the very start of my walk and it was already at 121 bpm. I used to walk at 3.5-3.8 on the treadmill and my heart would gladly pump away at that same 120-125 bpm. at the very most for the duration.
Today I was walking at 3.4 and it was beating like crazy at 145-150 bpm.. my ticker was working hard. I also have a feeling my blood pressure must be up some too. (Have to get that checked).
But, I do have to say it wasn't showing any ill-effects. I walked for 15 minutes with a 3 minute cool down before Ashley took me off for the routine she had planned today. She is so in tune with her clients and suggested that if I started to get lightheaded to just let her know.
We started with a superset - 3 reps of 12 crunches with 12 pushups, then moved to the trainers room for another superset - 3 reps of 12 squats and 12 sitting rows (45 pounds) (I sat on an exercise ball for even more core effect). Then I was back on the treadmill for 10 minutes at 2.8 for some cool-down cardio. My heart rate actually dropped back to about 134 by the end of the 45 minute stretch. I felt great !!
A new year - new resolutions - new life-style changes. I now know that 3 times a week is required for me and I have set it back in motion. It's like they say (whomever they are) - take action and stick to it - it will be your reward.
Oh, by-the-way, I added a liquid to my diet - it really is working great - Verve (from Vemma). Loving the stuff. Lots of energy with no side-effects or sugar highs or lows. I highly recommend it.
Have a great weekend.
Think fit - stay fit!
