Hazy August turns to crisp September

Plan for winter today

So.. July and August are history and September is upon us. Parents are preparing for work after vacation, students get ready for a new year at school or university/college and the days get shorter as winter creeps ever closer.

August has been a busy time for me. I have driven 1000's of tourists around this wonderful province of Nova Scotia (Canada) and in circles around the capital city (Halifax). September will bring a cruise ship a day sometimes 2 or 3 and even one day has 4 ships. All the students and all the tourists fill up the city making moving around ever so challenging. Five universities bring over 40,000 students and 40 ships another 80,000 over the month. To say the least I will be busy behind the wheel.

Another change in my routine revolves around acquiring a degree in Theology. I was accepted at a university and was awarded a student loan to cover the first year nicely. So now, at middle-age I can get my degree and drive - my favorite past-time.

There are many oppotunities to work at home. Studying for a degree and driving allow me to do just that. The university where I was accepted allows me to do so from home - no dorms, and no commuting to school over wintery roads (the campus is 45 minutes away). Tourism will slow down by November so the student loan and my savings will get me through a cold winter inside a warm "home school".

Good luck in the fall.. work @home. Its the way of today.

Paul
