** Observations of the last week **

I have had a few days off from the world of IT operations and with them I decided to stay away from my computer. I wanted to catch up on some older and newer movies I have heard lots about but never took the time (nor had the time) to watch.

First, I watched several second season episodes of the popular series 'Prison Break'. I saw many twists and turns in an elaborate government plot involving the FBI, the President, VP and other so called trusted institutions all involving escaped prisonors.

Then I reviewed several conspiracy theories around 9-11. I had never ever heard some of this stuff and immersed myself in all of the possible reasons that those terrible events happened back in 2001. It was amazing how this too could have involved a corrupt and greedy government and crooked security agencies, both high level and low level.

I saw a movie called "The Sentinel" - amazing to watch the plot revolve around inside corruption of a secret service agent with a man being framed for the ultimate assassination of the President. Fortunately 'Hollywood' brought the guy through alive to save the day and tell the tale. But the plot remained the same - institutional corruption of trusted authority.

"JFK" - now there was a movie that repeating the plot I had seen before!!

In a nutshell, I was astonished at how corrupt this world truly has become both in thought or plot. The technology of the day lends itself to countless uses that do not always lead to good things happening. Communication tools as we know them have become rittled with scams, threats, or virus warnings. Even our phones allow us to screen and clean out unknown callers or messages. Our inboxes fill with off-color offers; offers of money from rich deceased officials or physical aids to increase sexual performance.

I have been forced by these very things to search for keystroke logging tools so I can make sure my two boys do not search for anything on my PC or laptop that is inappropriate. I applied higher security levels on my computer to keep the attacks away from my account, and have blocked countless email addresses in an attempt to keep trash out of my email. A degree of paranoia has set in (do you feel the same??).

I came home one day last week and my computer (which is on 24/7) was at the login screen.. it is set to stay off if it takes a power pulse, but it had most definitely been rebooted and not by me.. so what happened there I wonder?

Everything has moved so fast with so much sophistication that we as humans even work the same way. Talking to each other has taken a level that is not simple anymore just in case there is motive behind the words. We have reached a state of "mis-trust" - truly this is a sad state of affairs!!!

I have to go - going to watch "Pearl Harbour" - hmm.. didn't I read somewhere that "they" knew that was going to happen or something??? Maybe I am just caught in the conspiracy mind-set.. ohoh!! :(

See ya for now.
