23 sleeps to Christmas

Are you ready?

Imagine, only 23 sleeps to the big day everyone waits for at this time of the year. Unbelievable how fast 2008 is slipping by isn't it?

But I would have to say that there are some people who have no excitement or great expectations at the end of this year. Many people dislike the commercialized chaos of this season. Some people have no beliefs around this season. With the cost of living so high it scares people and puts many under extreme pressure to give as they always have even when they can't afford it nor feel in the mood to do so.

Funny really! We give gifts to people we may never talk to all year round but have grown into such creatures of habit that it is essential they get something as a gift from us. Explain this to me please?!

This has been one heck of a year for me! I am sure many of you who happen on this article would agree or relate. I started unemployed January 2008 and was drawing EI. I managed to get a job at Quality Inn (2 days) but had to go on workers compensation due to a back sprain which took over from EI. After physio-therapy I drove for Ambassatours Gray Line (double decker duty). I left that in mid-July for a full-time job at Hilton Garden Inn Airport Hotel. I felt I could make a few extra bucks in September and October, so I went back to Ambassatours Gray Line until mid October, when I again returned to Hilton Garden Inn and am there still. I am months behind on car payments and some bills. Child support and rent and fuel and pellets (if I can find any) are all extra worries. Then there are family birthdays in October (2), November (1) and December (2). And on top of all of this rolls in Christmas. *sigh*

Sleeping is okay because I am basically beat so 23 sleeps won't be the real problem. I have to stop, think and decide that this is the year of practical giving and restraint from over-spending (from what money I am not sure but you get the drift).

Whatever your situation make it the best darn time of the year you can - 2009 just has to be better -- right?

If you can work @home.

Happy Holidays

Paul
