My Contemplation

Contemplation means to separate something from its environment, and to enclose it in a sector - maybe "thinking outside the box".

This week I have watched the large corporation I work for lay off 3 people and at the same time take on more work.

Hmmm.. wonder if that means the ones left have to do all the work the others left behind? In any case, this company is thinking inside the box insofar as profits are concerned. Think about it. Less people means less salaries, and subsequently more work equals more money and more money makes for more profits. All politics and profit - typical corporate mentality.

I suppose this is good business but hard on the homes affected in the case of the laid off (victims). It has me thinking and obviously contemplating what I should do. With over 25 years experience in IT a career move ought to be rather challenging (thinking of the hiring practices of many companies - 50 is old) but I also believe that 50 is where my life can begin.

Thinking outside of the box, I have developed people skills, life skills, if you will, that can help me move in the direction that not only helps me pay my way but stay active and happy.

Thoughts of investing (condo, house, RRSP) come to mind (inside the box) and starting a touring business will be something that allows me to think outside the box since I have only done it part-time for three years. Could I make such a business fly?

Time to do some research, networking, contemplating, analysing, figuring and praying.
